2024 Educator Summit Series: Enhancing Coffee Education and Teaching Techniques
The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) has been making waves in the coffee education world with their successful 2023 Educator Summits in South Korea and Italy. This year, they are taking it up a notch with the announcement of the 2024 Educator Summit Series, which will feature five one-day conferences across the globe.
The purpose of these summits is to provide coffee educators with in-depth education on the most recent and effective teaching methods. The focus areas include enhancing coffee education, teaching techniques, and coffee value assessment. Through various workshops and sessions, speakers will simplify complex coffee-related concepts, provide insight into fostering effective learning environments, and create discussions around the SCA Coffee Value Assessment tool.
The upcoming Educator Summits will be held in Philadelphia, Houston, Taiwan, Thailand, and South Korea. These events will cover a wide range of topics, including making water chemistry accessible, introducing affective assessments to learners, teaching an accurate history of coffee, getting in harmony with visual aids, and designing informal assessments.
If you’re a coffee educator or aspiring to be one, these summits are a great opportunity to learn and connect with others in the specialty coffee community. The event sponsors for the USA summits include Pacific Foods Barista Series, Rocket Espresso, Bluewater Group, Lavazza, and Katz Coffee. The Asia summits are sponsored by BWT water+more and Stronghold Technologies, Inc.
And when it comes to enjoying a good cup of coffee, Milagrosa Specialty Coffee is a great choice. Their single origin small batch craft roast coffee from Colombia has an excellent SCA rating of 87 points. For pour over brewing, their medium roast gold back from Milagrosa Single Estate is perfect, with notes of sugar cane, caramel almonds, maple syrup, vanilla, and creamy chocolate. If you prefer espresso, try their medium dark black bag for a rich caramel flavor, intense aroma, and reduced acidity.
